The Demon Sword, Grollschwert (グロールシュヴェート, Guroorushuveeto, lit. Grudge Sword), also known as the Sword of Spite (怨暛の魔剣 or うらみのつるぎ), and the Cursed Sword of Spite, is the name of the sword once used by the legendary war hero, Raimund Seyfarth, four years before his death. It is said that its blade becomes sharper as the wielder becomes closer to death. His legendary sword was passed down to his granddaughter and apprentice, Grolla Seyfarth, as its successor. The Grollschwert is also the weapon Spiritia Rosenberg attains from Grolla.

Spiritia Rosenberg[]

RKS Spiritia's Grollaschwert

Spiritia using the Grollschwert before (top) and during (below) Desperation Mode.

For Spiritia, she can fire a short-ranged violet-colored shockwave in front of her. As Spiritia's HP gets lower, the stronger these shockwaves become. For instance, if Spiritia uses the Grollschwert when her life is at maxium, she deals only a single point of damage per hit. If Spiritia uses the Grollschwert after losing 14 HP, she now deals an astounding 14 points of damage per hit. When Spiritia uses the Grollschwert during Desperation Mode, she will now fire three shockwaves at mid-range at once that can penetrate most enemy's shields (such as an Eggmet while covering its head). These shockwaves also gives Spiritia coverage against airborne enemies and the three shockwaves also have a shotgun-like effect. Most bosses take 0 damage from this weapon when Tia is at full health, and 2 if she is very low on health. However, this can go way higher against certain bosses, like Sichte and even Grolla herself(she takes around 4 damage from it if Tia is very low on health).

When fully charged, Spiritia releases a beam-like slash attack similar to the one used by Grolla. However, these beams deals less damage than a non-charged Grollschwert attack.

The Grollschwert is the weakness of Sichte Meister and Raimund Seyfarth.

Grolla Seyfarth[]

Grolla's Grollschwert

Grolla using her Grollschwert in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Grollschwert~.

For Grolla in Rosenkreuzstilette, she can release a shockwave with each swing of her sword. When she becomes weakened, she'll release more shockwaves and jumps high into the air to release beam-like slashes in multiple directions.

In Rosenkreuzstilette ~Grollschwert~, she can perform a 3-hit combo attack on ground, the third swing being the most powerful and can go through most of the enemies' shield. She can also charge it to preform a mid-ranged charge attack, though its weaker than her normal attacks. However, when Grolla charges it during Desperation Mode (after losing half or more of her HP), her charge attack's attack power becomes as powerful as her third combo attack and its attack range widens.

In Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~, Grolla uses the Grollschwert used by Raimund when he was resurrected by Count Zeppelin. She can now create more shockwaves and slash effects with this Grollschwert, and even more during her Desperation Mode, which makes her a more difficult boss than she was in the original game.

In the full version of ~Freudenstachel~, Grolla gains new attacks with Grollschwert, among them a sword plant from above, a dash attack rapidly swinging her Grollschwert, and creating several lines in different positions and calling forth slash effects in their place during Desperation Mode.

It turns out that Grollschwert created an apparition resembling Raimund to trick Grolla into letting her guard down by telling her to embrace the power within her blade and possessed her, threatening to force her to fight to her last breath if left alone. It also turned out to have gained the ability to speak through her. Luckily, Freudia Neuwahl, who found her in the Mountainside Dungeon, was able to snap her out of the sword's possession, leaving Grolla in Freudia's debt. Learning how careless she was to have released huge amounts of power at once and feeling ashamed of herself, Grolla vows to turn Grollschwert against the enemies of RKS instead of her own colleagues and that she intends to prove herself worthy of being its master.

In ~Weißsilber~, Pamela Arwig says she has been looking forward to testing her sacred blade Weißsilber against Grolla's Grollschwert. Grolla feels her blade seething with rage and realizes that it could be reacting to Weißsilber. Pamela claims that her own blade has killed many demonic spirits through the ages and believes that one could be living in Grollschwert, which Grolla considers to be ridiculous.

Raimund Seyfarth[]

Grollschwert as wielded by Raimund before being taken up by his granddaughter in ~Freudenstachel~.

As the original wielder of the Demon Sword Grollschwert, Raimund, especially in his undead Grim Reaper-like wraith form when he was brought back by Count Zeppelin as arranged by his biological daughter, knows secrets of the legendary sword itself, knowing how its wielders can listen to its will as well as its voice and therefore harness Grollschwert's true power. In-battle, during the second phase of the fight against him in Rosenkreuzstilette, Raimund can spin both his Grollschwert and Grassense at the same time and create a beam-like counterattack should he be attacked directly while sidestepping. He can also discard his Grollschwert, spin his Grassense and create a wind that drags the player closer to him with it, and have his Grollschwert come crashing down from above in an enlarged state while causing winds to drag the player closer to it. After he was laid back to eternal rest, Grolla uses Raimund's soul to transform the Grollschwert for her to use in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~.

Trivia[]

  • For Grolla, her Grollschwert functions similarly to Zero's Z-Saber from the Mega Man Zero series.
  • There is a fan mod for Rosenkreuzstilette that allows Grolla to wield the Grollschwert used by the resurrected Raimund, as seen in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel's~ C75 Trial Version.
RKSF-EarlyGrollaShockwave

The red Grollschwert phantom skull shockwave.

  • The graphic data of Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ C76 Trial version (0.02a) contains an early version of new-designed red Grollschwert shockwave with a phantom skull on it, but Grolla never use it in-game; she performs the violet shockwaves from original Rosenkreuzstilette instead. In the later tral versions/final version Grolla performs red shockwaves but there's no phantom skull on it. The reason why it's dropped/changed is currently unknown.
