Schwarzkreuz (シュヴァルツクロイツ Shuvuarutsukuroitsu), also known as the Black Cross (黒十字 Kurojūji), is an antagonist group introduced in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~. It is a mysterious organization made up of five Dark Magi; the only of their kind. Schwarzkreuz was established by the Pope and is commanded by Pamela Arwig. The members serve as witch-hunters for the army of the Orthodox Church under the watchful eyes of the Pope, tasked with capturing Magi and placing them in camps, despite being Magi themselves.

It is ultimately revealed that Schwarzkreuz was a sham produced by Iris Zeppelin and Eifer Skute, the latter of whom assassinated the pope and replaced him with a homonculus posing as him. Iris used Schwarzkreuz to gather huge amounts of Magi so she could steal their mana and use it to fuse with Spiritia Rosenberg, who was among the many Magi they abducted. Schwarzkreuz became neutral to RKS following Iris' second defeat.

Trivia[]
- Schwarzkreuz is similarly named, in English, to the Black Cross Army, the main antagonizing group of the first Super Sentai television series, Himitsu Sentai Goranger.
- The Dark Magi of Schwarzkreuz are based on characters from various Japanese eroge series.
- Like RKS, Schwarzkreuz has their own set of ID numbers, which is a reference to the serial numbers given to Robot Masters in the Mega Man series. However, these ID numbers only contain two letters as opposed to three.
- Schwarzkreuz is considered a foil to RKS: the first-numbered member, Pamela, while a straightforward person like Spiritia, is haughty and sanctimonious and uses Weißsilber for a variety of magic attacks and doesn't consider herself a Magus despite being one, whereas Tia is more humble and can use her own magic without any need for an actual weapon. Meanwhile, Eifer, the second-numbered member, shares similarities with Freudia Neuwahl, whom she bears deep-seated resentment towards, as she is a homunculus created by Iris using her as a template. Also, Freudia notes that, unlike RKS, the members of Schwarzkreuz don't seem to get along very well, as shown when she saw Pamela and Eifer bickering with one another during her first encounter with both of them.
